"People who connect and build fluid relationships are trust agents" by Chris Brogan & Julien Smith

Employer Branding is today's priority for most People Managers because it impacts directly in the quality of the talent attraction strategies.

One of the main issues in Employer Branding is when you work (as most do) in low notoriety brands. How can you get your message through?

The skill set of most professionals working nowadays in HR/PM is not adequate to answer the question, mainly because the question reflects what used to be a marketing problem directed at products/services and not Talent.

However things have changed and competition for high valued talent is stronger than ever. People are more informed and have professional goals for their careers. Companies are now forced to compete not only in terms of their products and services but also in the perception they pass on to the market of their own culture and internal environment.

So now we are faced with low notoriety organizations and unprepared professionals to address the talent war taking place. How can we not only survive but excel in capturing the best talent?

The first action to take is to look  inside your own organization. How is your organizational climate? How do your own employees perceive your company and your internal procedures?

You may be surprised to find things aren't as bright as you thought. No problem. Let's start working on it.

Priority Number 1 for your Employer Branding strategy: Design an effective Internal Communication program.

Why? Because if the message is clearly perceived inside your company and your employees are engaged, it will produce echoes outside.

Technology should be an ally to the implementation of your strategy has it offers many solutions to involve your employees and turn them into your personal Brand Ambassadors. Let them be your beta testers, make them feel special, and they will create a ripple of love towards your brand.

Only after you have won the hearts and minds of your employees should you change your focus to external Employer Branding strategies.

Good Luck!
